The Joy of Vermont
Yes, many our friends and co-workers have escaped to warmer places this week. While they are sunning themselves, entertaining their kids, and fulfilling that need to "just get away", they don't realize they are missing just about the best vacation spot of all time - Vermont. Now you have the good fortune to play tourist in your own backyard.
STOWE AWAY
How many years have you lived here and not taken a tour of Ben & Jerry's? Or maybe you have, but did you know you can also take a snowshoe tour around the property? Yep, $15 for adults and $10 for kids and you get snowshoes, poles, a guided tour and admission to the factory tour. FUN! While out in Stowe, go sledding on Marshall Hill or grab lunch at the Depot Street Malt Shop.
WATERWORLD
Spending the day swimming indoors is definitely taking a break from the ordinary. Try the pool at the Y in Burlington. No need to be a member. Want something a little more grandiose? There is always The Great Escape Lodge with its mega indoor water park. Little folks might like the smaller scale water slide at the Swimming Hole.
MINI GETAWAY
Try an overnighter in Montreal or venture to the Montshire Museum for the day. Did you know that the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium (yes, planetarium right here in VT) is one of the largest natural history museums in New England? Take trip out to St. Jonsbury this week and explore it.
THE GREAT OUTDOORS
People from all over this great nation flock to our home state to take advantage of winter's playground and we have it right out our front door. Aren't we lucky?! Go sledding on a new hill, try cross country skiing for the first time or go as a family to Trapp Lodge (c'mon, you know you have always wanted do that!). Ice skate on an outdoor rink, many even have rentals available. Or Winter Break is the perfect excuse to do splurge on something like a sleigh ride.
Break from the ordinary this vacation and have some fun!
