Everybody Dance Now
Perhaps somewhere inside all of our children is a musician, an actor or maybe a little Lord of the Dance just waiting to shine. A perfect place for kids to discover these talents is at the Flynn Center for Performing Arts. Winter/Spring classes begin the week of January 19th. Register for classes by January 1st and recieve a 2-for-1 ticket voucher of your choice to one of a select set of Flynn MainStage Series Performances.
DANCE classes for children at the Flynn steer clear of rigid techniques in favor unique, powerful, and expressive movements. This translates their boundless energy and imaginations into joyful motion!
- Creative Dance for kids ages 3-11 is the foundation of the program.
- Fantasy Ballet is for those in grades K-1 who really want to wear tutus and strut their stuff!
- Tap taught by Lisa Hopkins - creator of the international touring sensation show "TAPKIDS!" - offers a fantastic class for grades 4-8.
DRAMA classes at the Flynn emphasize individual expression, creative choice, and fun! There are no chorus roles, no disappointments here - everyone is a star!
- Classes for Pre-schoolers through grade 3 focus on creative exploration.
- Theater and Improv for Grades 4-8 add in some elements of comedy and musical theater.
- The Broadway Musical Revue workshop with a public performance in FlynnSpace is for High Schoolers.
- Bonus offer: On days of a family show at the Flynn, you can bring the kiddos to a pre-show workshop that will engage them in the art form, help them understand what they’ll see, and maybe even give them a sneak peek backstage!
MUSIC at FlynnArts begins with Early-childhood music education which is shown to improve fine motor skills, speech development, listening, concentration, cooperation, self-soothing abilities, and most significantly – later brain development!
- Music Makers is a class in high demand. These morning sessions fill quickly, as tots and parents (yes, dads too!) enjoy experiencing multicultural music together.
- Jazz for students in Grades 5-12 nurtures young musicians in small combos with lots of individual attention.

FlynnArts has an open house with FREE dance & drama classes for ages 1-13 during Burlington's First Night Festivities on Wed., Dec 31st, where you can get a feel for the teachers and the classes. Signing up is encouraged, but drop-ins are always welcome.
