Know the Ropes
Looking for something different to do with your family? Head to Northern Lights Rock & Ice. Located right behind the Inn at Essex, they have year-round fun for everyone. In the winter you can learn to climb on their amazing ice wall. Snowshoe, nordic ski and hike on their groomed trails. Best of all go tubing on the sledding hill. Glide down the luge-like track with twists and turns like a frozen alpine slide. Bring your own or rent one there.
That is just the tip of the iceberg. Year-round you can take advantage of their double decker challenge course. Challenge yourself and the kids to go places beyond your comfort zone. Take risks, push the boundaries and grow together as a family as you cross the balance beams, earthquake bridge, the pipe dreams then head down dual zip wires to complete the course.
Solid as a Rock
Little ones will enjoy the impressive Rainbow Playground with its own 12 foot climbing wall. And when they are ready for the next step they can traverse the 8'x8'x8' Bouldering Cube that is just right for young climbers.
Starting this spring and summer, "Little Climber" classes for 3-6 and 7-10 year olds will be held on Saturdays. Dates and times will be posted on the web site soon. For two hours they will learn confidence building skills and active social play with their peers.
How cool would it be to have your birthday party here? That's right, they do parties too. And as the saying goes "if Mohammed will not go to the mountain, the mountain must come to Mohammed." They have a 24' portable climbing tower that can come right to your backyard (way cool!)
Kids Climbing The Walls?
Send them to the Rock 'n Ropes Adventure Camp over February break or this summer. There they will spend three days rock and ice climbing, hiking and geocaching (think outdoor treasure hunt using GPS). Campers will climb both the high and low ropes courses as well as spend time on the zip line.
Does all this kinda make you want to do it yourself? The good news is you can! Northern Lights Rock & Ice offers many programs and services for adults too. Team development and recreation for all ages is their specialty.
Take the Challenge,
Miss Magpie
